Center for Business and Economic Services
Troy Campus
The Center for Business and Economic Services (CBES) conducts applied research and
provides services to businesses and government agencies throughout Alabama. CBES,
an administrative unit of the Sorrell College of Business, was founded in December
1974. Activities include applied research, educational activities, management consulting,
and publishing the Troy University Business and Economic Review semiannually. CBES
supports the economic development of small businesses through two subsidiary programs
– the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the Small Business Institute
(SBI). The SBDC offers one-to-one consulting, training, information and government
bidding opportunities to small businesses in a ten-county area of southeast Alabama.
The SBI links business students and faculty together with businesses to provide
research projects for small firms. Students receive practical knowledge and earn
class credits.
